SCHOLARSHIP
Each year a student is selected as a Scholarship Recipient  according to following criteria:
    • Shows the most improvement throughout the year.
    • Demonstrates initiative and motivation in their fiddle education.
    • Has a good attendance record at both regular school and fiddle school.
    • Maintains a good academic record.
    • Active community service, such as playing fiddle in nursing homes.
The recipient receives a full fiddle camp scholarship, valued at $330.00 to attend our annual Ottawa Valley Fiddle Camp in Manotick, Ontario.  It includes full tuition, meals, and accomodations.  In addition, they are presented with two commemorative plaques, one of which is displayed at our school.  Congratulations goes out to Miranda Oake who was the recipient for the 2007 scholarship award!

If anyone is interested in sponsoring a scholarship student to attend the fiddle camp, please contact me.  Sponsoring a young student can make the difference between them continuing and quitting music altogether.
    JAM SESSIONS

Once a month, we host a free jam session for all our private students.  This jam session gives private students an opportunity to meet others who are at similar playing abilities, learn new tunes and develop new friendships.  Students are provided with a jam session tune list each month.  As the students begin to perfect their jam tunes, we are then able to give back to the community as we perform in seniors residences and nursing homes.

    RECITAL

We had many students participate this year with many friends and family in attendance.  Our special guest, Yvon Cuillerier, put on a magnificant show.

The recital for 2008 has been booked so please mark your calendars.  Sunday, May 25, 2008 from 1:30-4:00pm at St. John's Anglican Church on Sandhill Rd. in Kanata.  Welcome back Special Guest, Yvon Cuillerier, from St. Bruno, Quebec!  Yvon has been in the top 11 at the Canadian Grand Masters since it's inception.  He captured the Championship title in Dartmouth, N.S. this past summer and continues to place in the top 10 in Pembroke every year.  Yvon is a master of every style!  Tickets go on sale in January.
